What is a BASIX Assessment? |
BASIX has been introduced by the NSW Government to ensure homes are designed to meet energy and water conservation targets.
The premise for BASIX is to meet targets that make a significant reduction in greenhouse gas emissions and water conservation by making significant choices to use appliances that require less energy consumption.
Some examples of this may include using, gas instantaneous or solar hot water systems, energy efficient lighting, rainwater tanks and other energy efficient appliances to suit the size and design components of your home.
When completing a BASIX Assessment, design elements and data are compared with the targets used to determine sustainable design and must pass in all areas to pass.
The BASIX Certificate produced lists commitments the user has agreed to, and the Certifying Authority will check these at various stages of construction.
A BASIX Certificate can be amended if the design elements of your home change and must be resubmitted to Council. | |
